Like a kid in a candy store…

There are (obviously!) lots of wonderful things about running a yarn store but the thing that hands-down makes it the best job ever is opening a big box of never-before-stocked yarn from a new-to-us supplier and just soaking up the colours and the smell and anticipating all the amazing things that are destined to be created from that one box of woolly goodness.

Such a box of  arrived here on Tuesday… all the way from Portland, Oregon. It’s one I’ve been anticipating for a while, having long been a fan…

Shibui means ‘elegant with a touch of bitterness’ in Japanese and the depth of the shades paired with sophisticated blends across the range of yarns encapsulates that philosophy.

We’ve got two 4ply/fingering weight yarns to start with but more will inevitably follow as we will surely fall in love with them all.

Sock is a lovely soft, plump 100% superwash merino that is perfect for socks – of course – but also great for accessories and lightweight garments. We’ve chosen solid and ‘fluid’ shades to start with…

The other is a merino/silk/nylon blend that has the same tight twist combined with a glorious sheen… wonderful for shawls, sweaters and luxurious socks.

There on more shades due soon with some lovely pattern books as well.

In the meantime, do you remember that cardigan dilemma I was having? Well, I think choosing yarn just got even more complicated…
